Shocked There is a couple of snaps on the gallery of our dock yard dogs circa 1964. Looking at them reminded me of a conversation between one of the boiler watchkeepers and the chief stoker who had wanted to know what the idea was of having dogs in the boilerhouse. He was told that we were training them up up to hunt down the rats that overran the area after dark. I seem to remember the chief after a slight pause remarking that we had better train them in the use of small arms as the rats round there were the size of bull dogs !! He was right. We got one cornered in the boiler house one day and it took two of us and a heavy duty coal shovel to get the better of it, and that was one of the little ones !! Shocked

The real big king rats however lived along the causeway into Jahore Bahru, in later years we live there and had mighty battles with them, but thats another story.
