Eugene Esmondes 825 Squadron ...
« on: February 23, 2015, 09:16:31 PM »

On Friday 10th October, at RNAS Yeovilton one of the great names in naval aviation has been reinstated into the Royal Navy.
825 Naval Air Squadron flying the new Navy Wildcat Helicopter is now in service.
The squadron is led by Commander Glyn Owen, and at the recent Channel Dash commemoration service
the squadron conducted a fly past to acknowledge Eugene Esmondes heros of the 1942 squadron.

The Lynx Wildcat is the latest generation of multi role helicopters procured to operate from frigates and destroyers of the R.N. The Wildcat has cutting edge surveillance radar and targeting systems, and is armed with two new missile systems specifically designed for use on this aircraft.

The Lynx Wildcat is said to be state on the art. With its sister squadron 815, 825 squadron is now part of the largest helicopter squadron in Europe.

Lots of further info on Google.
