Entrance to Gibralter Town5439 viewsDave Stalker in fore and aft rig, and Mike Durkan in square rig in 1958. In 1957 the S & S Branch, killicks and below were required to change rigs from fore and aft (peaked caps) rig to square rig (bell bottoms). The rate of Acting PO was brought in at the same time. Two years were allowed to chang rigs, at one's own expense. Being cheaper (£7 covered my complete changeover) and much easier to maintain and store I made the change early.
